Monday, March 9, 2009--Pattaya

This was a lazy day for us...everyone took it easy during the morning and just lazed around the house. Wit was working in the garden--as he does every day! The yard is looking amazing and is very colorful and fragrant. For those of you who have never lived in a tropical environment, the gardening techniques are a bit different here. To plant something, you just stick it in the ground and it grows! You can take cuttings from almost any plant and this will work. The downside is that most plants grow by leaps and bounds and can get out of control quickly. You constantly have to trim and prune to keep things in check.

Joe and I walked to the local fresh market and picked up some noodles and veggies, plus some spice packets so he could cook some local food. It turned out quite nice and was very spicy. For some reason, even in a hot climate like this, spicy food tastes really good.

Around 1 p.m., we decided to all return to the floating market since it had been too crowded the day before to really see things. It is really a beautiful place and was designed very well. We walked around for a while and then had a light lunch at one of the restaurants over the water. You can see pictures of the market here:

We came back to the house and everyone took a nap for a bit since it was a warm day. Then around 5 p.m. we went for a quick swim in the pool before heading to Preecha for dinner.

We had been to Preecha last time we were here and were very impressed with the food. The restaurant sits on the waterfront and is a lively place. We made it just in time to see the sunset--it was nice, although a few more clouds would have made it even more spectacular. The food was very good and tasty and we ate every last bite! You can see some pictures here of the dinner:

After we returned home, we watched some TV, caught up on e-mail, and then called it a night around 10 p.m.

Tomorrow: No specific plans yet.
